Chiropractic Consulting: In a Slump?

It happens to the best of us, even in chiropractic consulting. External pressures mount, responsibility bears down hard, and formerly unthinkable temptations start to look, well, reasonably tempting. And even though you may watch in horror as your progress unravels before your eyes, you feel powerless – or perhaps unwilling – to intervene. You are officially in a slump, and you can’t seem to find a way out.

The first thing to do is realize that a slump isn’t a death sentence. It’s not even a specifically delineated term with objective, absolute meaning that transcends. One man’s slump might be another man’s jumpstart. It’s all relative, and we’ve all been there. Keeping that in perspective is about half the battle, but only half. I try to convey this point to my chiropractic consulting clients all of the time.

The first thing you might do is revisit your past successes. I know you’ve got ‘em, because how else could you be in a slump? A slump means you’ve fallen from former grace; you can’t have cold without heat, and you can’t have a slump without past success. Think about what you did right and how you felt doing it. A good way to do that is through my chiropractic consultingprogram. I like to find out what my clients are doing in their area that works. Not what they think will eventually works, but what has solid evidence of working.

You’re obviously wedded to the your old bad habits for some reason. Like most people, you probably had great initial results. You probably enjoyed the freedom from making your own decisions, but for some reason things just kinda fell through. To start, don’t rest on the familiar. You don’t want to drown yourself in despair and self-pity, but you do need to leave the kid gloves in the closet and get moving. It’s not admitting defeat to “start over”; it’s just admitting that you want what the you have to offer. I tell my chiropractic consulting clients all of the time, you have to be flexible. There is nothing about a business that will work if you are not flexible.

At the same time, avoid the common stumbling blocks that affect tons of people as they embark on a new lifestyle. You aren’t new to the game, but a huge part of getting out of a slump is starting over like new. Break your bad habits and replace them with good habits – identify the problems and correct them. Don’t make common mistakes I see some of my own
chiropractic consulting clients make. You must be able to focus in on the bad habits and eliminate them without hesitation.

In the end, only you have the power to beat the slump. Thousands of others have been – and are in – your exact position. Some fail, but every single one that gives it an honest try succeeds.
