Chiropractic Coaching: Should Chiropractic Change to Meet the Changing World Part 2
Chiropractic Coaching: Should Chiropractic Change to Meet the Changing World Part 2
Continuing on my discussion from the previous blog post coming from the viewpoint of a chiropractor involved in chiropractic coaching, I must digress a bit….I had been a chiropractic patient when I was 13 years old. I went when I was 18 and learned all about chiropractic. Now as a chiropractic patient, I was told all functions of the body are controlled by the brain via the nervous system. If there is interference within this basic communication there would be in fact a miscommunication causing a malfunction in the individual organs function leading to disorganization of the systems, because other organs would be stressed by the inefficiency of the others they work in concert with and the body would move from a state of “ease” to a state of “dis-ease”. If the body continued in a state of “dis-ease” it would advance due to tissue destruction into a state of disease.
Now this “story” made perfect sense to me because I was in competitive moto sports, motorcycles and sports cars. In simple words… structure dictates function, electrical timing maximizes performance. So, this is how I viewed it at 18 years old…The body is electric and the electrical acuity would be enhanced by an optimal functioning nervous system. The body has structure designed by GOD to ambulate in gravity… The best alignment will facilitate the stress of gravity and cause the body to become balanced within that physical stress… alter that structure the body will have altered function and increased stress in areas not designed for stress and they will succumb if not brought back to normal function. While doing chiropractic coaching, this is what I try to convey to my clients.
So when I BEGAN chiropractic college, not knowing one day I would be into chiropractic coaching, I had a basic understanding of the chiropractic story… My chiropractic education enhanced the understanding from a kindergarten understanding to a college level understanding… Though when I began my own practice my cognition was… I needed to go back to explaining chiropractic at the kindergarten level so I could build a foundation of understanding in those I served. Becoming a Chiropractic student, I learned there were principles governing this physical universe and there were principles in which chiropractic existed…
The first principle was… A universal intelligence is in all matter and continually gives to it all its properties and actions, thus maintaining it in existence. This resonated a truth in me that seemed unexplainable, when I would ponder life. The thought that there is intelligence in the body, controlling and regulating every last function really explained how life happened! The very idea that the intelligence and wisdom that created life would be part of the life with me made total sense… while at the same time the idea that an educated human could analyze a human or anything “life”… figure out why it was malfunctioning then replace the missing ingredient r remove the malfunctioning part made absolutely no sense. The EGO it takes to decide you know more about a creation than the creator of it… makes absolutely no sense… This is where the dichotomy of health care begins in my humble opinion…My clients learn these principles through chiropractic coaching.
